VADODARA: Twenty-year-old city student Kunal Suraiya stood second in all India ranking of the professional competence course (PCC) exam of chartered accountancy (CA) conducted by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Suraiya, a third year student of M S University's Faculty of Commerce, is now eyeing to repeat this success in CA finals.
"The results are beyond my expectations," Suraiya, who scored 464 out of 600 marks, told TOI on Tuesday, adding that he wants to become a chartered account. No one from his family has done this professional course.
"I started studying for Common Proficiency Test (CPT) examination after I cleared my class XII board exams. After clearing CPT in August 2007, I had started preparing for PCC and enrolled myself for articleship. I expected my score to be around 400. But, results have come as a pleasant surprise to me," Suraiya, whose father Rajiv is a manager with a Makarpura-based private firm and mother Madhushri works as a secondary section teacher at the city-based Navrachna School, said.
Interestingly, this city lad wants to become a double degree bearer. "Apart from completing my CA finals with good score, I also want to do masters in business administration after completing my graduation," he said. Kunal, who is pursuing his Bachelors of Commerce at present, scored 74 per cent in first year and 69 per cent in second year. Although he is yet to chalk out his future plans, he added that he is interested in manufacturing sector, especially in production of power equipments.
